Time-Capsule

The science show Time-capsule is an exciting answer hunt, a time through travel, in the company of famous scientists, a forgotten water-clock, Salvador Dali and three galaxies.  The science ever after team travels from London and Berlin  to present the show.  Time-capsule (Zeitkapsel) is aimed at students aged 9-12. Duration 45’.

Filippa studied time for her Master in Science. For her thesis, she conducted bespoke primary research based on a survey of 15-year old students in Greece and recent bibliography. The outcome underlined students’ misconceptions and existing knowledge. The results also pinpointed the obstacles children encounter when they use Deep Time notions or when they talk or learn about time. Adults also often do not feel confident when using the different measures of time, especially when shifting between different temporal periods .

Working as a team, Eva and Filippa studied further about time and designed Time-capsule. The show puts together this information and triggers the audience’ s curiosity about time.

SEA: THE SCIENCE!

Sea: the science is an educational project that combines fun experiments and facts, games and activities about the seas and oceans of our Earth.

Have you thought why the sea is blue and salty? Do you know why we feel revitalised when we breathe fresh air by the sea?  In Sea: the science project we will answer these questions, and more. We will experiment as the scientist do and discover how the jellyfish swim,  what material corals are made of and why they may be at risk by the melting of the icebergs. Well, we will explore icebergs as well. Finally, we will paint colourful underwater creatures with salt. And what is the Great Pacific garbage patch anyway?

THE SCIENCE ATELIER

What does a chemist want in an artist’s atelier?

Watercolors, pastels and oils, pencils and markers, colorful pallets, brushes of all kinds, canvases and papers… Cool, but that sounds no science at all, right? No.
In this workshop we become artists and scientists ourselves. Cool… but at the same time? Yes.
We hack artists’ tools and equipment and set up colorful chemistry experiments. Cool…but can this thing work? Yes.
With hands on activities, experiments and different arty materials we merge in the light and shadows of our imagination.
Did we mention that we also create our own sci-artwork?
Well, yes. We do!

Join our interdisciplinary project that reveals the science behind the art.
Science Atelier is designed for 7-9 year-old-children.

THE LANGUAGE OF CHEMISTRY

Do you speak Chemistry?

Listening to two chemists talking to each other might sound Greek to you. Well, chemistry has its own Alphabet, the “Periodic Table of Elements.” Every single element in this table -like with the letters – can form “words.” Chemical words. And then…”sentences”. And then… a whole paragraph or a novel, a book.

In this science ever after project we have lots of fun by creating molecular ”words” on paper. We form molecular ”sentences” in  our test tubes and build our own 3D molecular sculptures! By the end of the event, we read, write, talk and play chemistry fluently. So next time you will meet a chemist, you will know how to say HeLLO!

‘The Language of Chemistry’ is aimed at students aged 7-11.
